Psalm 104

The following are pictures of banners used in worship on Pentecost at my internship congregation.  The banners are a result of a confirmation lesson, the gifts of an artistic congregation member, and the efforts of the quilting group.

The squares were created by confirmation students during the class session on the Psalms.  We began with a short lesson on the Psalms.  Then our guest, a congregation member with a passion for arts and creativity talked about the importance of spiritual practice.  Then we read through Psalm 104, and each student had a different section of the Psalm that they then represented on their square of fabric.  Since Psalm 104 is used on Pentecost Sunday, the quilters used red fabric to piece together these banners.

This was a great way to get confirmation students involved in worship at church and a great way to use different types of teaching styles in the classroom.  And, of course, it was great fun!
